I began my painting journey in 1971. The class was oil painting, taught by Harvey Pell of Antioch, California. Since that time I have taken numerous college classes, workshops and private lessons from local and nationally known artists: Jane E. Jones, the late Julie Gregory, Polly Hammett, Frank Webb, Joe Fettingis, Billyo, Kevin Macpherson, Dan Goozee, Barry J.Raybould, Shirley E.Nachtrieb, Homer Hacker and Marcia Burtt. My other source of "instruction" has been on my own through my great collection of art books. I am always so inspired by other artists and appreciate their willingness to share their talents and knowledge. I am grateful to God for my passion and perseverance in this wonderful field.
Art has always played a part in my life and my family's life. I have enjoyed doing paintings of my children and grandchildren. Painting murals for the grandchildren's rooms and artwork to enhance my children's homes. Whether I am doing a commissioned work for others, or painting en plein air for the pure enjoyment and excitement of it, painting for me, is akin to oxygen...I need it!
My works are in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. I enjoy a wide variety of subject matter and my work ranges from realism to non-objective. I often create my pieces from combining photos as well as from my sketchbooks and notes. Many times, I throw "caution to the winds" and just wing it...and play and create as I go. Our "tech" age has provided other "tools" for we creative beings...the computer and digital camera! I dabble in the Adobe program to manipulate my designs "quickly" and find this tool to be invaluable for quick studies of pieces I am working on. I most enjoy plein air painting for its rewards and challenges.
I hope my artwork will interest you, inspire you and keep you coming back for "just one more look!" Thank you for visiting my site and please contact me if you have any comments or questions. Blessings to you!
